What do the Loch Ness Monster, a fiver in your jacket pocket and a four day weekend have in common? Yep, they’re all pretty rare, but thanks to the upcoming Jubilee celebrations, we’re about to be blessed with four fantastic days of Bank Holiday fun. Read on to see what Metquarter has in store to keep you and the family entertained across the Jubilee Weekend.
The Perfect Pairing
There’s just something about a Bank Holiday weekend that calls for a G&T – and with that in mind, we’re super excited to welcome Whitley Neill to Metquarter for a Jubilee takeover at GPO!
Expect a show stopping flower and balloon wall, perfect for your selfie backdrops as well as bunting and fantastic balloon centrepieces to get everyone into the party spirit.
There’ll also be a drinks menu, specially curated by the experts at Whitley Neill with their delicious gin cocktails, served in glass teapots! And on top of all the incredible drinks and decorations, every Whitley Neill G&T sold will be entered into a raffle, with daily prizes!
AmazeLab Presents: Rockets Workshop!
If you’re looking for something to keep the little ones entertained over the extended weekend, this one’s for you! The AmazeLab team is back for another incredible workshop, this time it’s all about rockets! Your child will design and build a rocket, which will be tested to see who’s creation can fly the furthest!
The workshop is aimed at 5-11 year olds and takes place on 1st June from 11am-12pm at GPO Liverpool. Booking is essential and tickets cost £10 per child, secure your tickets here.
While younger ones are in the workshop, why not take advantage of the hour and enjoy some food and drink from some of the fantastic independent kitchens at GPO? Check out the kitchens here.
AmazeLab Presents: Potions Workshop!
Move over Hermione, it’s potion time! In the second workshop from AmazeLab, children can come along and learn how to make potions and watch dry ice demonstrations! Guaranteed to be lots of fun and educational, this workshop is also aimed at 5-11 year olds and takes place on 1st June from 1pm – 2pm at GPO Liverpool. Booking is essential and tickets cost £10 per child, book your tickets here.
As it’ll be after mid-day, why not sit back and relax at GPO whilst the kids are busy and enjoy one of the fantastic Whitley Neill Jubilee gin cocktails?
Cinema Trip at Everyman
If bunting and garden parties aren’t really your thing, how about a bit of multiversal travel and sorcery? Or a speedy blue hedgehog and his fox sidekick?
Everyman Cinema is the perfect place to explore new worlds, and of course eat stacks of nachos and popcorn! This Jubilee Weekend, book yourself and the family in for a cinema trip and maybe even treat yourself to a glass of bubbly, it’s what Elizabeth would want 🥂. (Queen Elizabeth, not Elizabeth Olsen)
Taste Liverpool. Drink Bordeaux.
Don’t forget that the streets of Liverpool will also come alive with a brand new food and drink festival over the Jubilee Weekend!
Promising to be the most delicious weekend of the year, the ‘Taste Liverpool. Drink Bordeaux’ festival will take place on Hope Street, Bold Street and Castle Street, with local restaurateurs and producers showing off their world class food with tastings, demonstrations and classes. Some of Bordeaux’s top wine producers will also be showcasing some of the region’s best wines with their masterclasses and tastings!
There’ll also be a producer’s market, bars, live music and much more. The majority of the festival is free to attend, however, each restaurant and bar will have their own prices for food and drink items. We’d also recommend booking for any tastings and masterclasses as we’re expecting this to be a busy weekend!
